What services do you provide?
Vintage Wedding Gown Alterations -- I specialize in taking your mother's, grandmother's, or other vintage gown and updating it to suit your style while maintaining the integrity of the original design. I have extensive experience in working with vintage garments, and am able to problem solve to make your old dress new again!
New Wedding Gown Alterations -- I am also available to alter your modern wedding gown for a perfect fit. I have worked on hundreds of gowns from dozens of designers over the years, and am familiar with the particular ins and outs of today's wedding dresses!
Custom Accessories -- I love making custom lace veils (often available for far less than what you'll pay in a boutique--and made exactly to your specifications), heirloom garters, lace tops, sashes and belts, ring pillows, and overskirts. This is a great choice if you have a scrap of grandmother's dress or a piece of dad's shirt that you would like incorporated into your wedding day. I also do hand embroidery, from beautiful decorative designs to accent a garter or ring pillow, to embroidering your wedding date inside your gown. Please allow 6-8 weeks for custom items.
How much time do I need to allow for my alterations?
I offer a unique service where I perform your alterations in a one-week turnaround. We schedule your first fitting for the beginning of the week, I do the alterations, and we have you back at the end of the week for a follow-up fitting to check everything. This allows you to either get the alterations out of the way early, or alternatively, wait until closer to the wedding to ensure an accurate fit if you are losing weight. For out of town brides, I can also accommodate weekend turn-arounds so you can visit lovely Charleston for the weekend and get your gown altered!
How much do alterations cost?
Most bridal alterations run between $200-800. It is not possible to give an exact estimate prior to the fitting, but once you are pinned in the gown I can give you an accurate quote for the work.
Do you have a consultation fee?
Yes. If you would like an estimate on the work, want to see if a certain alteration is possible, or get ideas on what can be done with your gown, you may want to schedule a consultation. There is a $25 fee for the appointment. If you decide to move ahead with the work, this fee is waived.
What forms of payment do you accept?
Cash, Mastercard, Discover, Visa, and American Express are all accepted. No personal checks, please.
Can I read reviews of your previous work?
Do you offer cleaning or steaming services?
No, but I recommend Arrow Dry Cleaners. They are located at 579 Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC and can be reached at (843) 722-3808. They are very skilled at cleaning and steaming wedding gowns and vintage pieces. They also offer gown preservation services for after the wedding. For simple gowns, I recommend that you borrow or purchase a handheld steamer and simply do it yourself! I will discuss how to accomplish this at our fittings.
